SmartCardia is a SME based in Switzerland and is a spin-off from EPFL. It has unique and strong expertise in building Body Area Networks (BANs) using novel ultra-portable multi-parameter sensing devices. It has developed complex algorithms that run inside the embedded hardware that can process different physiological signals that capture the autonomic nervous system activity, such as the ElectroCardioGram (ECG), respiration and skin conductance.

Role in REACH
SmartCardia will develop software for emotion detection and hardware schematics for the wearable unit. The hardware prototypes and PCB design will be developed as well. SmartCardia, as an SME, will also play an important role in the dissemination and commercialization of the technologies to be developed in the project.
